Review:

When I heard about a Jumanji sequel I had mixed feelings. I love the original, and didn’t think anything could outdo it. Zathura, which was based on the Jumanji idea, and stuck to the original concept, was a pleasant surprise to me, so I knew I would give the new version a chance as well.

The cast was brilliant:
Kevin Hart mostly plays very one dimensional characters, who have the same traits, and in this case it’s pretty much the same, however, I haven’t had that much fun watching him in since Soul Plane and The Wedding Ringer. He was just right for this role. I loved it.

Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, and Nick Jonas are bringing the right amount of cheesiness and humor to the table, and it was obvious that they enjoyed their roles.

Even though they had small parts, Alex Wolf, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman and Morgan Turner did a wonderful job as well.  The only issue I have is when 30year olds play teenagers. It was normal back in the 90s during 90210, but there are so many talented young actors out there, why not letting them play an age appropriate part?

CGI and Cinematography are great, the plot development on the other hand could need a little tweaking; I loved the new twist of being stuck in a video game, and having three lives, but I was missing the complexity and creativity with it. At times it was too much talking and too little action. And the worst part about the talking was: the dialogues felt unnecessary and boring at times.

Overall I have to say I was expecting more, but I would watch it again, because the cast is so much fun.

While Jumanji – Welcome To The Jungle is definitely entertaining, nothing beats the original in my opinion.

And I hope there won’t be another sequel.
