Review:
I am a huge fan of the Scream Franchise, and I love most of Wes Craven’s movies – may he rest in peace.
This movie definitely felt different, because it is the first one without him, nonetheless I think Mr. Craven would have been proud of it.
The premise is familiar and the formula seemed the same. One difference is that the movie references are not to slasher movies, but to the more sophisticated ones from recent years like The Babadook (2014) and Hereditary (2018).
The killer is definitely faster and more uncompromising and the story evolves at an appropriate pace. The sub-plot was woven in perfectly, and there are a lot of connections to the original, which could have actually been a little deeper, so I am hoping we get more of it in part 6.
The reveal of the killer was not really disappointing, but also not surprising. However, I really enjoyed the way it was finished.
And I understand that the new characters needed to be introduced, but I wished the original cast would have gotten more air time. The entire cast was great, except for one character, and I hope they won’t be in the next installment, or die quickly.
In my opinion nothing beats the first part because it brought back a genre that has been gone for a long time. It paved the way for so many other movies, and will be forever be iconic. Nonetheless I think the newest Scream installment does not disappoint and gets a spot in my personal top 3 Scream movies.

I didn’t know that this one had released. It has not released her for sure! I would watch it if the movie comes to OTT – always a fan of the franchise 🙂

I actually think I am going to watch it again. 😄 I always thought part 3 was the weakest. Part 4 was good and this one was just as good if not even better.
