Spring Breakers (2013) – The Best movie of the year… NOT!!!!!

You might like this movie if you enjoyed:
Kids (1995), Project X (2009)
Long Story Short: Four suburban college girls (Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine) who are planning on going on their spring break vacation of their life. But not all of them enjoy this trip full drugs, sex and alcohol. And when they get involved with a drug dealer named Alien (James Franco) everything changes.
My Thoughts: This was the biggest let down of the year. The trailer made it look like the audience can expect a fun, fresh, provocative portrayal of the new generation, but it is definitely not! The movie is so stupid and senseless, I didn’t care the tiniest bit for the four girls, and if it was up to me, they all should have died or gone to jail for being so dumb, which would be at least some kind of decent ending. Wow, we see Jennifer Hudgens as a bad girl… wooohoooo. I couldn’t care less. The characters had no depth, development, nor had they been appealing in any way. Selena Gomez was probably the only one who delivered an okay performance, because she stuck with the innocent Disney – character, but the other three just seemed ridiculous. And what was up with James Franco as Alien? How would he even consider playing such an annoying role?
This movie comes from the man who wrote the script for Kids which has been an eye-opening and very thought- provoking movie, but this movie is total bull$#!t and I think a ten year old could have written a better script.
Stylish? No!
Thought- provoking? No, but provoking my last nerves!
Fresh? Of course not!
Fun? More of a hell ride… and not in a good way!
I admire the commercial success this movie had, but if you don’t want to waste your time, I would suggest to watch something else.

Very insightful! 😀 Thanks for commenting!
This movie is different & suspenseful .. You can definitely say that you’ve never seen a movie like this before! Not what I was expecting whatsoever .. & I liked the documentary feel of this film. All four females went above & beyond anything they have ever done & I would also say that James Franco was EXCELLENT in this film, you couldn’t even tell it was him. Boo you people obviously aren’t open minded bc this was a great movie according to me, my sister, & friends that have watched it. Haters be hatin! Hit me baby one more time!!
Xoxoxo
Spring break forevvvaaaaa
Oh I don’t think it is about being open minded, I believe it is about having expectations for a director who is known for thought provoking and meaningful movies. Kids had a big impact on me and I was looking forward to seeing a movie that will leave me as shocked or impressed as I was then. But it didn’t happen, it seemed forced, unnatural and just very senseless to me. Well, there must have been a lot more people than just you, your sisters and friends who liked it, and as I said, I admire the commercial success of this movie a lot, but it was just a huge disappointment in my opinion. And if I wasn’t open minded I wouldn’t have sat through the entire movie, hoping that it will catch my attention! 😀 Thanks for commenting, please comment more, I appreciate it! Xoxoxo
Hi Simon.
I like your review. I think a lot of people agree, and I didn’t love this movie but I sort of get what he was trying to do. It was purposely trying not to be like Project X and more like some dreamy Trainspotting type film. Even then I still don’t think it was great, its a very self-indulgent film.
