Under The Gunn (2014) – Can it get any better than Project Runway?

… I almost want to say yes. With Tim Gunn as the host of this new fashion competition Lifetime has brought someone that EVERYONE loves.

You might Like This Show if you also Enjoy:
Project Runway (2004- ), Fashion Star (2012-2013) The Face (2013- )

The Concept of the show is simple: Take Project Runway, add the concept of The Face but subtract the drama (well, sooner or later there might be a little drama, who knows…), and finally add a pinch of the glam of Fashion Star, which was sadly cancelled by NBC last year due to low ratings. Then mash them all into one big ole show. Many times mixing different ideas together doesn’t work, but in this case it is actually brilliant.

The show started on Thursday and introduced the mentors Mondo Guerra, Anya Ayoung-Chee, Nick Verreos, who were all competing in previous Project Runway seasons. 15 competitors will have to sew for their lives because only 12 will have a spot in the show. Each mentor will pick 4 designers they want to take under their wings. At the end of each show there will be a runway and the weakest designer will go home. Only one mentor and one designer will survive at the end of the season.

After the very sad attempt of Bravo TV to come back with another fashion show (Styled To Rock) I am relieved that Under The Gunn is not a show that relies on celebrity guest appearances or unnecessary drama. The viewers get to see more of the empathetic and kind side of Tim Gunn, talented competitors and outstanding mentors, who anyone would be blessed to have.

Even the Runway looks better now: It is lower, brighter and more inviting.

I had my doubts about this show at first, but after watching the first episode I was blown away. It’s a fresh and reinvented take on a fashion competition. Project Runway and Under The Gunn are the best Fashion Tv-Shows out there right now.

Good Luck to Mr. Tim Gunn, Mondo Guerra, Anya Ayoung-Chee and Nick Verreos. And if anyone of you are interested in giving an interview for my blog, I’d be honored. 😀 #JustSaying

    • I know you would, Abbi! We would have a Under The Gunn Party every Thursday, eating some healthy snacks, then maybe end up ordering Pizza because the healthy didn’t do it’s trick, hahaha!

      • That sounds like the best Thursday night everrrr! My local pizza takeaway does a 500 cal pizza with steamed chicken, light mozzarella, spinach and sun dried tomatoes that is to die for. Two birds. One stone.

      • Oh My God, that sounds like heaven. Over here they don’t really offer that. I started making my own individual pizzas and make the dough off scratch with whole wheat flour. I will try the steamed chicken, light mozzarella and spinach next time.
