Review:
The Daughter is a low-budget thriller with a simple story. Things happen very fast, we quickly get introduced to the protagonist Rian and her intentions of bringing her father to the top and becoming a successful editor for a newspaper. Then things take a quick turn when all of a sudden she’s been taking hostage and tries to survive, but as it turns out it’s about so much more. The progression of the plot is interesting enough to keep you watching, even though the characters don’t show too much complexity. There are a few scenes that are very unnecessary and seem like fillers: a rape attempt and lot of talking doesn’t create more intensity if you ask me. Nonetheless I think The Daughter is a watchable thriller and I like the ending.
