TV-Thursday: Resurrection – A new cash cow for ABC?
So, for 2014 I am trying to have SimonSaysWatchThis a little more structured: Tuesdays or Thursdays you can expect TV-Reviews of old or new shows. Mondays will be one or more movie reviews, while the rest of the days most likely depend on the letter they begin with, on Saturday there could be a Short film review, on Friday I might have a closer look at a Fashion Show.
Of course, I might not be able to post something every week, but I hope that Mondays and Thursdays I can have something ready for you!
So now let’s have a quick look at ABC’s new drama series Resurrection, airing Sunday nights:
Category: Drama/Fantasy/Thriller
Actors: Frances Fisher, Omar Epps, Devin Kelley, Samaire Armstrong, Kurtwood Smith, Landon Gimenez
Duration: 42 min
Rated: PG
You might Like this Movie is you enjoyed:
True Calling (2003-2005), The Returned (2012-)
Long Story Short:
Strange things happen in a small town in Missouri: A boy that who died 30 years ago suddenly reappears. Alive.
But he is not the only one who comes back from the dead. A police officer is trying to find out if the resurrected are really the ones they claim to be.
Review:
To clear things up, this is not an ABC Original Series; it is actually an adaptation of the French Show Les Revenants, a.k.a. The Returned, which I have only heard of before. Judging by the content of the French original it might get very violent, so I am interested to see how ABC wants to translate that into public television since they are usually very mild when it comes to violence.
Anyways, I have seen 3 episodes so far and I was hooked after watching the first. The cast consists of a group of extremely talented actors, and the story is very mysterious, and free of any cheesiness or plot holes. It is one of those shows where one just sits back and gets totally surprised each episode.
When it comes to hit potential, I would say this show will stick around for a while, and expect at least three to five seasons, but who knows; many great shows have been axed for the wrong reason, I am thinking of shows like Veronica Mars or Tru Calling, which I will be reviewing soon.
Hit Potential: 80 %
Rating: 7/10
I have it queued up in my dvr. It also reminds me of a show the 4400 or something like that?
Oh yes, I totally forgot about that. That’s true… It may even have a touch of LOST.
