Olympus Has Fallen (2013) – A well- acted Action- Thriller that is lacking in Action, Depth and Zest

Olympus-Has-Fallen-2013-Poster

Category: Action/ Thriller
Actors: Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, Angela Bassett
Duration: 120 min
Rated: R

You might like this movie if you enjoyed:
Die Hard (1989), Independence Day (1995), Murder at 1600 (1997), White House Down (2013)

Long Story Short:
Through a tragic accident Mike Banning – lead Secret Service agent for the White House – has to take responsibility for the death of the first lady and looses his job. When he tries to get back his position the White House gets attacked by terrorists it is up to him to save the president and his son.

Review: I was not sure what to expect from this movie but after the end credits rolled out, I thought, “Oh, that was it?”, rubbed my eyes and went straight to bed. First of all, I would have never casted Aaron Eckkhart as the president, because, as much as I liked him in The Dark Knight, he is very much blah to me. Morgan Freeman, Angela Basset and Gerard Butler did a solid job and saved the very unspectacular plot, the little action scenes, and the dialogues that were probably meant to be intense but in reality they were just boring.
If you are looking for a calm and settle action movie with decent acting this might be a good movie for you. But if you expect more than that you are going to be disappointed.

Rating: 5.5/10
