Long Story Short: Even though Annie’s (Caity Lotz) mother passed away she can’t forget the horrible time Annie and her sister Liz (Kathleen Rose Perkins) spend with her. Annie decides to stay a night in their mother’s house and disappears, which makes Annie a prime- suspect. When she tries to get to the bottom of the events, she witnesses supernatural activities in the house. Is someone trying to warn her? Slowly the truth about the house and her family reveals itself.
Review: I wasn’t expecting much due to a few articles I have read. I expected a low quality movie with average acting and average story with very little twists and no shock moments. But I was pleasantly surprised. Besides a good picture and decent sound quality the movie has an amazing cinematography, a variety of angles and detailed shots. Furthermore the story keeps you interested; it starts quiet, then slowly sneaks up on you until it almost gets unbearable in some moments. It actually turned out to be really creepy in some scenes. The actors, especially Caity Lotz are doing a satisfying job and we can also see some realistic gore effects. If you like slasher- movies like Evil Dead I would say this is not for you, but if you like intelligent supernatural thrillers with creep factor you should give it a try. Oh, one more thing, don’t watch it alone. 🙂
