Review:
Orphan was a huge surprise to me when I saw it in 2009. I expected some cheesy horror movie, but it’s a very atmospheric drama about a couple who recently lost their child during labor. They decide to adopt a little Russian girl, who seems to have perfect manners, but due to her age she is too old for most couples. As they bring her home the wife notices strange trades and starts to dig deeper about Esther’s past. And from there the horror begins. I loved every minute of it. It is very gruesome and disturbing sometimes, the actors are extremely committed, and therefore set the perfect tone for the movie. The children actors steal the show. Isabella Fuhrman is a brilliant evil character, and can make some creepy faces, I can tell you that. The only thing that bothered me a little was the fake Russian accent, however, that didn’t spoil the rest of the movie. Great Storyline, nice subplot, amazing actors and a unexpected conclusion. A Must- See!!

Rating: 8/10

  1. This is one of those movies which you have to find by yourself, because not many people know about this! But we all love Esther anyway! 😀
