Long Story Short: Christine (Rachel McAdams) is the head of an advertising company and used to get whatever she wants. Isabell (Noomi Rapace) is her most gifted worker and she rests on her talents. But when Isabell figures out Christine’s true intentions she tries to fight back, and by that she starts a dangerous game of love, hate, sex and… passion.
Review: We have three strong names that should make this movie a great experience:
1. Rachel McAdams – known for movies like The Vow (2012), The Notebook (2004) or Mean Girls (2004)
2. Noomi Rapace, The(Original) Girl with The Dragon Tattoo
3. Brian De Palma, director of Scarface
But this is not the case at all! It seemed like Regina Georg from Mean Girls grew up and became even more annoying and hateful, Rachel Adams was acting and talking like her character from 2004 but had way less energy. Noomi Rapace definitely outplayed McAdams, however, like all the other characters, her part was flat, dull, boring and on top of that very unrealistic. There wasn’t any spark of sympathy that came off from any of the characters.
And Brian De Palma, well, he should have stopped making movies after Mission Impossible in 1996, because everything that came after that wasn’t even worth mentioning, and this was probably by far the worst movie he directed. The plot was very thin, the supporting actors were horrible, and I am truly wondering how the estimated Budget of 30,000,000 $ (according to http://www.IMDB.com) has been used. I mean Black Swan had a budget of 13,000,000 $ and turned out to be a very intriguing and twisted story, which is probably what De Palma was trying to go for but it didn’t work.
I hope this movie will be buried soon so we no one will have to see it, and get the wrong impression of the two leading ladies.
